Ram to Enter the Large-Van Market

The Ram Truck brand is officially entering the North American market for full-size commercial vans. Intentions to do so were made clear today at the L.A. Auto Show, where the brand announced development of the new 2014 Ram ProMaster, a workhorse vehicle that, when ready, will blend Ram capability with the large-van size, resulting in yet another way to fulfill the various needs of current and future Ram owners.

“We feel that from a product-feature and launch timing standpoint, the all-new Ram ProMaster van is going to be a home run with commercial customers,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico, Chrysler Group LLC. Diaz continued: “Our relationship with Fiat, one of the world’s foremost commercial truck makers, has given us access to great products and technology that will resonate with our U.S. and Canadian Ram Truck customers.”

Based on the successful Fiat Ducato, the new Ram ProMaster is undergoing significant redesign in order to incorporate familiar Ram Truck styling cues in addition to those features and powertrains preferred by North American commercial customers. Regarding the actual specifics of the redesign, for that, RamZone readers will have to stay tuned for future posts.
