The Ram Truck brand closed out 2012 with another big win, this one courtesy of its hometown paper, the Detroit Free Press. On December 27th, the Free Press, a leader in covering the auto industry, selected the new 2013 Ram 1500 for its prestigious Truck of the Year award.
“Chrysler could have gotten away with a mere face-lift for the 2013 Ram 1500 pickup,” explained veteran auto journalist Mark Phelan, who wrote the article announcing the award. “Instead, [Ram] provided a glimpse of the pickup of the future, a truck that combines workhorse capability with fuel efficiency.”
Fred Diaz, president and CEO Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico, Chrysler Group LLC, added this perspective: “The new Ram 1500 takes a massive step forward in technology and fuel economy, representing the direction the Ram Truck Brand is heading with all its models. We are honored to have an endorsement from the Detroit Free Press and Mark Phelan. This award will be well-received by our dealers and customers, reiterating the fact that Ram has the best truck on the market.”
Ram is proud to place this award among the others it has earned recently, most all of them for the 2013 Ram 1500. But rather than view the recent successes as a high-water mark or finish line of some kind, we choose instead to see it for what it is: a sign that the bar is raised and that current and prospective owners should expect the same level of award-worthy quality from Ram Trucks from here on out.
