It’s tough to believe that over 40 years have passed since the 1970 Dodge D100 Adventurer ruled the road with its Slant-6 engine, four-section chrome grille and wood grain tailgate. As part of the iconic D series (1961-80), the 1970 Dodge D100 featured a swept-line bed and inboard fenders, giving it a smooth look that matched the sharp look of the decade.
The Adventurer trim levels, which included Adventurer, Adventurer Sport and Adventurer SE, stood out with their padded front seats with vinyl trim and full interior carpeting. Other features available in the 1970 models included courtesy lighting, a wood-trimmed dashboard, luxury door panel trim and color-keyed seatbelts, full wheel discs, dual horns and extra insulation.
These hallmark trucks of the early part of the decade struck a balance between being capable, powerful work trucks, while adding comfort and luxury features that made them accessible for many different walks of life. The 1970 Dodge D100 Adventurer (pictured here), for example, looks especially sharp parked at the water’s edge.
