Each year a group of Canadian auto writers gather some of Canada’s toughest trucks for a grueling test they call the Canadian Truck King Challenge. The field consists of 16 contestants in three categories. Ram Trucks was represented by our Ram 1500 3.6L Pentastar V6, Ram 1500 3.0L EcoDiesel V6, Ram 1500 5.7-liter V8 Laramie and Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel.
The test consists of three parts: towing an 8,000-lb. trailer, hauling 1,800 lbs. of payload, and off-road performance testing. Each truck’s performance in capability and fuel economy was measured as well as an overall impression of the truck’s features.
Impressive powertrains, unmatched interiors, and overall unparalleled capability across the line allowed Ram to sweep the competition. Our Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and Ram 1500 featuring the legendary 5.7L HEMI® took the first and second spots in the over $45,000 category, while the Ram 1500 with the Pentastar V6 took the title in the under $45,000 category. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was also named the overall Truck King Challenge winner.
