Ram Trucks offers two* separate and very different lines of commercial vans: ProMaster and Cargo Van (C/V). Which is the best choice for your business? Let’s take a closer look.
At first glance, the Ram ProMaster is the clear favorite of the competition. An all-new product introduced at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, the ProMaster is full of innovative, category-leading features, from the available 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine to the exclusive automated manual transmission.
Three wheelbases and two roof heights are offered, arming buyers with a powerful array of 14 potential platforms tailored to their specific needs. With a gross combined vehicle rating (GCVR) of up to 12,500 pounds and up to 530 cubic feet of cargo volume available, the Ram ProMaster is a workhorse without match in the commercial van category.
Given the ProMaster’s impressive capabilities, it might be easy to underestimate the smaller Ram C/V. But make no mistake, the C/V offers a lot of truck in its compact and attractive package. The flat aluminum cargo floor can handle 4×8-foot sheet goods with ease, and there’s up to 155.5 cubic feet of cargo volume available, with a maximum payload of 1,800 pounds.
Also, with its high-efficiency, minivan-derived platform, the C/V is tops in maneuverability in traffic, with a car-like ride and handling and ease of parking. Here’s one work van that’s easy to own and drive. The Ram C/V’s fuel economy is easy on the balance sheet too, with a rating of 18 miles per gallon in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, thanks to the efficient yet powerful 283-horsepower Pentastar® V6.
