The guys and gals of the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) paid us a Lone Star-sized compliment when they handed the 2011 Ram 1500 the TAWA Truck of the Year Award. But we wanted to know what exactly put the 1500 ahead of the competition when it came time to vote. To find out, we worked up a quick video complete with interviews from Ram Trucks CEO Fred Diaz and Michael Herzing, the president of the Texas Auto Writers Association. The clip digs into what it means to have designers and engineers who are truck people above all else, and exactly how that translates to one of the best pickups on the market today.
