Chat with Ram Engineers in the Dec. 8 Cummins Forum

2010 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie Mega Cab 4x4 - 6.7L Cummins turbo di

Got a question for a Ram or Cummins engineer? Well, now’s your chance to hear from the guys who built the 2010 Ram Heavy Duty and the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel, one of the cleanest, most powerful diesels on any commercial pickup. Whether you want to know about different transmission options, the benefits of the diesel exhaust brake, or anything else Cummins-related, the engineers will be answering your questions tomorrow. Click here to post your questions in advance between now and tomorrow afternoon. Then check back on Tuesday, December 8, between 5:30 and 7:00 pm Eastern, to be a part of the conversation. I bought an 09 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton crew. What were the engineers thinking when they put a donut for a spare tire? It seems that all pickups made today are for the townies. We live in a rural area, and sometimes travel. In the off chance that we would get a flat, the spare is almost useless. I just wanted to thank the engineer for my 2 1/2 hour drive, that should have taken an hour. If Dodge is trying to cut corners, the wages of this guy would be a great place to start.

And why I’m at it. The fuel milage on this pickup has gone down by 4 miles a gallon.

Ford and GM also have a small donut spare….for a longer time than Dodge….

Cold/Hot weather makes the m.p.g fluxuate..

Yes,i am a so-called townie and love my DODGE Ram.

The dyno chart for the 5.7 Hemi 1500 is wrong. Please correct it. Torque line is incorrect!!!!

TIM: We are aware of this! A fix is underway. Thanks for the post.

I’ve an ’04 2500 Quad with Cummin’s 5.7L turbo, 4spd auto and am courious about the ’10 2500 Quad with 6.7 Cummin’s turbo with the 6spd auto and exhaust brake. What is the comparison on fuel economy, with and without 16k lb trailer, mountainous and flat ground? What is the braking comparison for the same terrain? Both the above at speeds of 75mph, 70mph, 60mph, and 30mph and trips of 800 miles?
Why is green not an availble color for the exterior? Why is tan/toape and black/grey the only interior colors? My 04 has black interior with patriot blue, I like that exterior color but cannot find an interior that I like. Acctually I’d prefer forest green exterior with tan/toape but none such exists in Dodge.

i dont know how every one elce likes the new 6.7… sure its and alright motor especialy compaired the ford 6.0. but i cant get enuff of the exhaust break. but b 4 i bought my 08 i had and 02 wiht the 5.9 and 6 speed and to b honest that truck would kick that pants clean off of the 6.7. and the fuel economy is just horible!!! i could get an average of 10 mpg with my 02 and with the 08 im lucky if i get 8. now why is that?

  • tr4petty

Travis; I don’t know how you’re driving your trucks but 10mpg in a 5.9 diesel with 6 spd manual is horrible! I get nearly twice that in my ’05 Dodge 2500 diesel with G56 manual tranny. In fact, pulling my 5th Wheel camper, I get about 13.8 on the highway!

JCalvin: There is actually no requirement to publish fuel economy ratings on
heavy duty trucks, but you can rest assured that we are very competitive in
the marketplace, and we will continue to monitor fuel economy for our trucks
as well as our competition. Thanks for supporting Ram.

what is the milage for this truck

question, I haven’t seen anywhere but will 2010 6.7 run on 100% bio diesel? what type bio is required and what if any long term effect on turbos injectors etc.

I own 2008 Dodge 2500 with 6.7L diesel and 6 spd A/T – trying to find out information about emission equipment and the 2 particulate filters – are the filters self cleaning? If not self cleaning, how often do the particulate filters need to be changed?

I have a p188 code.  I just want to know if that is definatley my injector pump.  My volume test and lift pump and fuel tests all come out good.  Is it for sure my injector pump???

  • I’m not savvy enough to predict all the ramifications but I do understand it might be bad. I’m not sure what I’d move my investments according to present in your current scenario. As for the purpose of tanking the economy when it comes to political gain, I want they’d go ahead and do it (that is definitely, worse than they already now have). monster beats turbine pro!

  • Excellent piece of writing. Thanks for posting that. I was not really informed of your website, but will return back a lot more frequently now. Including you to my own RSS reader.

I have a 2017 ram 2500 diesel mega cab with uconnect and the 8.4″ screen. The stereo volume, and steering wheel volume and stereo tuning, and uconnect buttons on the steering wheel dont work. And on the instrument cluster it says “radio locked”. I was wondering if there is an easy way to fix this problem.
