RAM Trucks and Stihl Team Up for Lumberjack Competition

The Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee has announced that it will host the Stihl Timbersports Series U.S. Pro and Collegiate Championships on June 1-3, 2012. That’s big news here at RAMzone because, for the second straight year, RAM Trucks serves as the presenting sponsor of the Stihl Timbersports Series.

“We’ve been producing the Stihl Timbersports Series for 27 years, and we’re excited to bring the original extreme sport to The Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge during the Feud’s inaugural year,” says Brad Sorgen, series producer.

The pro competition consists of six professional lumberjack disciplines: the hot saw, single buck, springboard chop, standing block chop, stock saw, and underhand chop. Grueling qualifying rounds in these manly arts pit the top eight lumberjacks in the region against each other with the top four athletes advancing to the Pro Championship.

In addition to glory, bragging rights, and a brand new Ram 1500 pickup, the top U.S. competitor also earns a slot in the World Championship in Lillehammer, Norway on Sept. 8-9.
