In the Duel in the Desert, Mopar RAM Runner Comes Out Ahead

Picture this.

Sunrise at the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) in southeast California. Somewhere in that 85,000 acres of dirt, dust and desert, two fierce competitors—the Mopar RAM Runner and the Ford SVT Raptor—are poised to do battle on a punishing 4.73-mile loop. The winner? Mopar RAM Runner, by a full 33 seconds.

This was precisely the scene that played out not long ago when PickupTrucks.com and veteran SCORE International Off-Road Racing Series Trophy Truck driver Chad Ragland came together to test the off-road trucks in something they call “The Duel in the Desert.”

As noted, the Mopar RAM Runner bested the Raptor by running 33 seconds faster than the competition, earning it high praise from Ragland.

“I was impressed with RAM Runner’s extreme off-road capability,” said Ragland. “We jumped, slammed into mounds, cut through deep sand and it came out like a pro, rarely getting into the bumpstops or touching the skid plates.” Ragland added, “Those front-end shocks are amazing.”

    Interesting you pitted an aftermarket MOPAR accessory parts special build RamRunner against the Raptor which is factory built and can be bought at a dealership.  Not exactly apples to apples.

    I have driven both and found the RamRunner extremely capable and rugged in an offroad environment, a bit more than the Raptor. I expected your result given the difference in the entries

    I say the raptor because I have seen the ram runner its not the best the raptor has a smoother ride then the ram you can also buy the roush raptor which will destroy the little ram runner screw ram if they try to make something better then raptor then ill be surprised till then the raptor will be the number one truck plus hemi cannot beat fords motors ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
