This week’s reader-submitted story comes to us from Tomball, Texas, home of Chad Westmoreland and this beauty of a RAM Truck. Here’s Chad to discuss how he achieved that cool retro look.
This is my 2009 RAM 1500 4×4 that I bought brand new in September of 2009. I have always loved the looks of the late ’70s/early ’80s RAM Power Wagons with the “Macho” package. Wanting to make a modern version, I purchased a regular cab 4×4 as the starting point. I then added a 6-inch lift kit to give it the rugged stance of its predecessors. Next came the 37-inch off-road tires and polished aluminum 17×8 “slot mag” wheels. Then I added a black powder-coated roll bar complete with KC off-road lights to further enhance the retro macho look. To top it off, genuine ’70s “Power Wagon” fender decals were added along with current-production RAM Power Wagon tailgate and bed graphics for their throwback styling. Needless to say, I get lots of looks and thumbs up with my retro RAM!
As well you should, Chad. That’s one tough looking truck. Nice work!
