All off-roaders know it: that pang of excitement radiating outward through your body’s every nerve just as you turn off the hardtop onto the two-track or open range. The ground changes from blacktop to gravel or dirt, and the first chance you get to lean on the gas, the ground sprays up behind your back end, reminding you how far from civilization you’ve come.
This is what complete freedom feels like. As for what it looks like, well, that’s easy too. Freedom looks like you in a 2013 Ram 1500 barreling through the back country at one of the country’s best off-roading destinations. This is a truck built to perform in some of the most unforgiving terrain, a truck so comfortable off-road that Four Wheeler Magazine named it Pickup Truck of the Year.
Of course, we know that not every Ram Truck owner is willing to take his or her prized possession off-road. Don’t let that stop you from enjoying the thrill of trail. With a maximum tow rating of 10,450 pounds, not to mention innovative features like Trailer Sway Control, an Integrated Trailer Hitch and Hill Start Assist, the 2013 Ram 1500 is just as qualified to get your off-road toys to the trail as it is on the trail itself.
Please visit the Towing Guide at RamTrucks.com for more towing and capability information relating to the entire Ram Trucks lineup. But first, here’s a quick explanation of the three towing features mentioned above.
- Trailer Sway Control recognizes a swaying trailer and automatically applies individual wheel brakes and/or reduces engine power to attempt to eliminate the sway.
- Integrated Trailer Hitch eliminates the problem of dangling wires. All Ram models offer 4- or 7-pin trailer hitch wiring harness and connector with a convenient plug-in connection integrated into the rear bumper.
- Hill Start Assist detects when your truck is on an incline and works to prevent the truck from rolling backward.
