In April 2012, Ram Trucks made waves in the light-duty truck world by introducing the 2013 Ram 1500, eventual winner of multiple major awards and the new gold standard for light-duty capability. Now, Ram Trucks makes its presence felt again, this time with the 2014 Ram ProMaster, a purpose-built, full-size van that right from the get-go can boast numerous best-in-class features—total cost of ownership chief among them—making it an immediate player in the commercial truck market.

“As Ram takes a larger presence in the commercial truck market, the 2014 Ram ProMaster is a great addition, contributing to a one-stop shop of commercial-duty Ram trucks and vans,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO — Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico, Chrysler Group LLC. “The ProMaster answers to key segment demands with best-in-class features, quality, durability, capability, and low total cost of ownership.”

For its reentry into the full-size van market, Ram Truck turned for guidance to Fiat Professional, one of the largest and most experienced producers of commercial vehicles in the world. In fact, the new 2014 Ram ProMaster is based on the front-wheel-drive Fiat Ducato, the most popular full-size van in Europe.

The 2014 Ram ProMaster is the Ram brand’s first shared truck collaboration with Fiat Professional. With more than 4.5 million vehicles sold worldwide, the Fiat Ducato offers Ram Trucks a proven, award-winning platform that combines durability, value, efficiency, and capability like no other in its class.

Like all other Ram vehicles, the Ram ProMaster will be the regular subject of RamZone posts moving forward. Presented here is a preview of the talking points future posts might cover.

  • I need two of these long wheelbase models! Can they come as CNG or with the possibility of conversion to CNG?

    • Joshua Hosford

Ben are you still interested in CNG versions of this van ? If so email me at josh@worldcng.com

  • Sure wish Dodge would produce a hybrid 4×4 long bed/crew cab dodge ram pickup. Now that would sure help the hard working American.

  • Nate den Hollander

please do not sell it looking like that 🙁 i am a huge ram fan, and i admit the front end looks horrible. the bottom half of the front bumper looks like it go pushed from behind and under the cab. make it more streamlined (like the sprinter) please

  • GSPizille

What is the GVWR? Is this supposed to be a niche between the Ford delivery thing and the Sprinter?

  • BEACH ARTIST

VERY FUTURISTIC LOOKING. LOOKS LIKE A NO NONSENSE VEHICLE JUST PLAIN HARD WORKING. GREAT JOB!!!

  • Ricky

Horrible looking but, if it can get better MPG then ford’s new van. Then great going.

  • TeamRinaldi

I wonder if this is going to be an actual production vehicle or another concept like the 2013 2500 & 3500. Something we hear a lot about, and see a bunch of pictures of, but can’t build on the website or buy. Maybe they’ll let us go to the dealer and order one, but won’t tell us what it costs. C’mon guys, some of us out here need heavy duty trucks/vans. Get your act together already!

  • Kevin

Why doesnt the ProMaster have 4WD so it can go to any workplace especially with mud and rocks

  • Bill Steele

I’m trying to get some specs. for the cargo area of the 2014 Ram “2500 ProMaster” cargo van with high roof and long wheelbase (159″) for possible upfitting but haven’t yet found anyone who can/will give them to me (even my call to Chrysler’s Tech. Center proved unless). In particular I wish to know the interior length of the cargo area in this model and the width between the wheel wells? Also, knowing the exact positioning of the sliding side door and of the wheel wells on this model would help too. Does anyone know of where I can get this information or of someone who can give it to me? Thanks.
