Ram Trucks – 2010 Year in Review

2010 was a big year for Ram Trucks – so busy that none of us can believe it’s already drawing to a close. In product news, we pulled the wraps off of some new models, including the Ram Outdoorsman and the Ram Laramie Longhorn Edition. The Outdoorsman was our answer to fans asking for a truck perfectly prepared for tackling trips into the wild, ruggedly equipped straight from the factory. The Laramie Longhorn Edition, on the other hand, was designed to combine utility and luxury to the greatest extent we could manage. With the addition of these two new models, the full line of Ram Trucks straight-up won Manufacturer of the Year from Off-Road Adventures magazine, evidently thanks to both our bold design and our stout powertrain offerings. In honor of this victory, the magazine offered free online subscriptions to any of our readers wanting to sign up.

Over on the just-for-fun side of Ram Trucks, we had a year absolutely chock full of exciting events and promotions. Earlier in the year, we took a memorable trip to Iraq to meet some of the amazing men and women serving our country, proudly representing American principles and helping protect those in the Persian Gulf. The USO tour inspired us to team up with the Zac Brown Band and Soldier’s Angels in the Letters for Lyrics campaign, collecting countless heartfelt letters of support for the brave troops abroad. The campaign was an astounding success, and we were amped to see our friends in the Zac Brown Band win Best New Artist at the Country Music Awards later in the year.

We were also busy this year giving out free RamZone swag to our loyal readers. We held a promotion for Father’s Day where we rewarded those who submitted the best Ram stories about their dads; although deciding on the winners was a good deal tougher than we expected. Five of our favorite submissions received a Graphica 4-in-1 pen, and the top two entrants ended up in a tie, with both of them getting an Atomic G-Shock watch. Uh, for their fathers, of course. When we were at the Texas State Fair showing off the new Laramie Longhorn Edition model, we were also busy giving away free Ram Trucks T-shirts to blog commenters, just for sharing their favorite football rivalries. We also hopped over to Vegas to continue our 20-year partnership with the National Finals Rodeo, where we awarded the winner with a special-edition Ram Truck, complete with a custom belt buckle and Ram Trucks rifle.

Over in Vegas, we had some spectacularly modified Ram Trucks keeping the public intimidated and excited at the annual SEMA auto show. Despite the slightly overwhelming size of the show, it wasn’t hard to find a Ram Truck sporting its stuff, whether it was a monster off-road machine covered in mud or a slammed street truck scraping the pavement. Most recently, we were in the City of Angels providing video coverage of our offerings at the LA Auto Show, including the 2011 Ram 1500, as well as the Outdoorsman and Laramie Longhorn models mentioned above.

Sounds like a fun year, right? Well, we’re expecting 2011 to be even bigger. Just as we did this year, we already have some great engineer chats lined up. We’re also busy preparing a bunch of other events and promotions, including a Battle of the Bands competition, so keep your truck parked two spaces wide right here at RamZone and you won’t miss a thing. Happy holidays everybody!
