In this week’s installment of our reader-submitted Real People, Real Trucks series, we tag along with David K. as he travels from Maine to Alaska and back to Maine again. A cross-continent road trip in a Ram? Honestly, we can think of nothing better.
We have a 2011 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Big Horn Edition. On May 10 we left York, Maine, for Alaska. The truck had 4,000 miles on it. We have just returned to Maine and the truck now has 16,500 miles on it. We pulled a 27-ft. Skyline Koala RV Trailer, traveled across the United States, Western Canada, the Alaskan Highway, and much of Alaska. We experienced some of the worst road conditions one can imagine and traveled through snow, mud, gravel, and over mountains and valleys.
In all conditions, the Ram performed tremendously. We averaged 13 mpg pulling the RV. It handled the mountains like they were little hills. Throughout our entire trip we were amazed to see how many Ram Trucks there were on the road. It is certainly the preferred choice for a large percentage of truck drivers, and we can see why. I am sold on ours.
Wow, David, that’s some adventure you had this summer. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for making Ram your truck of choice!
