Hibbert Extends Points Lead with a Win at the Ram Truck National

After a solid performance in his Minnesota hometown (official recap below), Snocross world champion Tucker Hibbert is just one race away from having the chance to claim this year’s ISOC Pro Open Championship.

How did he get to this point? It helps to have one of the best teams in the series supporting him at each and every race. Watch the March 8-9 behind-the-scenes video on the Ram Trucks Snow Patrol tab to see exactly how the Monster Energy/Arctic Cat race team has factored in to Tucker’s championship run.

March 11, 2013 – Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert continued his stellar Snocross season at his home race in Glyndon, Minnesota, by sweeping last Friday night’s event and rallying from the back of the pack Saturday to finish fifth. The Ram Truck National at Buffalo River Race Park (just a few miles east of Fargo, North Dakota) featured a tight “L” shaped, 30-second track. Despite Hibbert’s wild weekend, he extended his lead in the ISOC Pro Open Championship and now holds a 77-point lead over second place.

Hibbert had solid starts Friday, winning both his qualifiers and the final by a whopping 21 seconds. He kicked off Saturday’s event by turning the fastest lap in practice and going 1-3 in qualifying. He was fourth off the line in the 15-rider final, and on lap one of 18, the leaders came together in the tight turns of the back section of the track, causing Hibbert to hit a stalled Logan Christian. Then, Hibbert was tagged from behind and flipped on his side. He picked himself up and reentered the track in 14th place. By searching new lines, he put on an impressive charge through the field and blitzed his way up to fifth before the checkers flew.

The ISOC Pro Open Champion will be crowned this weekend (March 15-17) in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. With Hibbert’s 77-point lead, he can secure the title Friday night. Pro Open racing takes place both Friday and Saturday at Grand Geneva Resort’s ski hill from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
