Our high-flying Rams won their respective classes at the Traxxas TORC season opener at RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan this past weekend. In his rookie start in off-road racing, Samuel Hübinette swapped his Challenger drift racer for a Ram Truck and won both rounds in the PRO Light division. “This weekend couldn’t have gone any better,” said Hübinette, a superstar in the world of drifting, “The Traxxas Racing and Jenkins Brothers Racing team provided an amazing package, a great Ram Truck with an awesome Mopar engine and BFGoodrich Tires to help hook up all that power on the muddy, challenging track.”
In the hotly contested PRO 2 class, Rob MacCachren wheeled his Ram to decisive victory over the other entries and even ran the fastest lap of the weekend. “This is the first time I’ve run this truck in the dirt,” said MacCachren. “The guys did an awesome job with the settings on the Mopar Ram, the BFGoodrich Tires hooked up and we didn’t have to pull a tear-off all day. I’m looking forward to coming back next year.”
In PRO 4, former motocross champion Ricky Johnson — a multi-time winner at RedBud on two wheels — had his Red Bull Ram all over the bumper of winner Scott Douglas, but was not able to pass before the checkers waved. Nevertheless the Ram / Mopar team scored three wins, one second and two thirds in their rain-abbreviated, four-race, TORC racing debut.
