Ram Introduces New Outdoorsman Model

RM011_003FNOne of the largest parts of our loyal Ram base is comprised of avid outdoorsmen, and there’s no mission we take more seriously than our commitment to building trucks that our people want. That’s why today at noon at the 5th annual Professional Outdoor Media Association conference; Ram unveiled the all new Ram Outdoorsman model. Stocked with as many off-road, outdoor accessories as our engineers said the laws of physics would allow, the Ram Outdoorsman model is designed to handle every fishing excursion, camping trip, hiking expedition, or weekend at the lake you can throw at it. To ensure that every Ram trucker is accommodated, regardless of their load, the Outdoorsman is available in all 1500, 2500HD, and 3500HD single rear wheel, Regular Cab; Quad Cab, Crew Cab and Mega Cab; four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive; and short-and long-wheelbase models. Standard equipment includes trailer-towing upgrades, lighting enhancements, beefier tires, and reinforced underbody protection, while an awesome time communing with Mother Nature is sold separately.

 

Pricing will start at $28,350 when the Outdoorsman models officially hit dealer lots in the third quarter of 2010. See you out there!

Mopar RamBox Holster

Ram officials also unveiled a new factory-designed fishing rod and gun rack option for RamBox-equipped

Ram 1500 trucks.

The Mopar RamBox Holster is designed to fit within the Ram’s two unique locked, lighted and sealed

exterior storage bins.

The Mopar RamBox Holster gently, yet securely cradles two rifles or shotguns, or can be rotated 90 degrees

to hold up to six fishing rods.

RamBox Holster will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $205, and be available at Chrysler,

Jeep, Dodge and Ram dealers when it goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2010. The feature will also

be available on the Mopar eStore at Mopar.comn

• Securely holds two guns, either shotguns or rifles (with scopes), or six fishing rods (with reels)

    • Interior looks very well designed & color keyed with a slick tech pakgace. The anticipated fuel economy (40 mpg) from this car matched to an attractive price point makes this a contender for a daily driver. The exterior shots looks good so far – hopefully the final result will look nicer than the round tail Giulietta hatchback and Dodge will offer in sedan form.

    How about offering the Rambox option for 1500 Reg Cab 6’4″ box Outdoorsman?

    Also, ought to make the 4-mode Electric Transfer Case an option on Outdoorsman.

    • Bad graphic (font) used for the diaitgl speedo. It takes too much concentration to figure out if that’s 60mph or 30mph or 80mph…and when you’re driving, you don’t have time to stare at the speedometer readout and try to figure it out. Obivously the ‘designers’ didn’t take into account the simplicity of easily read numerals, but – instead – chose a low, flat font that ‘looked cool’ (but is difficult to read).

    1. I need the 8ft bed, so it’s no rambox for me. The Outdoorsman is just the TRX with a decal. Now if the 1500 was available with the 5 something liter cummins developed for it before the bankruptcy, that would be interesting. Or if the 2500 was available with the Megacab AND an 8ft bed that was also a rambox. And no I don’t care if the vehicle is 23ft long.

    I own a 2004 ram 5.7 hemi it uses oil I had the rack replaced at 9000 miles. The truck only 48000 miles on it I have had it worked on several times at a local dealer , needless to say it still uses oil and smokes They say they have done all they can do, Dont buy Dodge

    I am very sorry to know that his Dodge is not in perfect condition. Like all the modern apparatus and produced in series may present a problem, but most of the times, always correctable. Unfortunately, some may present a problem of any kind, of various orders… it happens. Of course, not want to happen with us and the steps should have been taken for everything to work perfectly.
    Sincerely, a long long time I use Dodge pickup trucks, are the best in the world, of course, from my point of view. I respect him for his opinion, but believe me, his statement does not fit for me… We are enthusiastic and passionate about this wonderful brand that has always been and continues to make history in the automotive environment and in people’s lives… forever!

    Simply put, a heavy duty truck should have everything the light duty’s have but more and more capable, which means the rambox needs to be brought to the heavy duty’s in every bed length (same goes for the 1500’s). Also, its a great truck by all means, but shouldn’t a truck that is out in the woods an rollin’ through water and mud etc. should have leather seats… I would think that mud and dirt wouldn’t clean near as good on cloth than leather.. Plus i think Dodge needs more leather options instead of just the Laramie option. Kinda like what ford has with there platinum edition, king ranch, and larait. Anyways, great truck, thats my opinion, and DODGE4LIFE!

    I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi. One of the best trucks I have ever owned. Other than the normal maintenance, only had one small problem with my truck over the past 7 years. I’m a horse enthusiast, and my 1500 pulls my trailer like there’s nothing behind it. In 7 yrs it has never let me down. I’m a lifelong Dodge lover. Now I’m ready for a new one. Thinking about the Outdoorsman.

    I bought my first Dodge truck (a Dakota) in 95.  My first step up was to a Ram, regular cab.  I kept stepping up trim levels and options until I just took receipt of a Ram Outdoorsman!  Wow! what a truck.  I’ve never had any problems with any of my Rams or the Dakota.  always treated it right and it has treated me right.  My first short trip in the Outdoorsman was great.  It rides smoother than the 09 Ram I traded.  I understand those that run into a lemon once in a while.  I agree with Flavio.  Every manufacturer produces a lemon once in a while.  I have friends that have had bad experiences with Fords, Chevies, what ever.  But for the most part all vehicles are much better quality wise and there is not much separation between the brands.  The separation really is at the dealer in how you are treated and the expertise of their staff/mechanics.  They are the ones that keep you coming back or send you away . . . not the manufacturers.
