Another year is halfway through, so here at the Ram Truck brand we’re thinking to the future. We’re excited about the changes we’re bringing to you for 2012 , but even more so, proud of the consistency that Chrysler Group LLC has been bringing to the table since 1925. Here’s a quick peek at our 2012 offerings. We know you’ll enjoy.
The biggest news for the 2012 model year lays with our HD HEMI-powered trucks which are now offered with a new six-speed automatic transmission. This new transmission, called the 66RFE, replaces the previous 545RFE gearbox, and comes standard with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 on all Ram 2500 models.
But that’s certainly not all – our Ram Chassis Cab trucks get upgrades and increased capabilities for the 2012 model year. Specifically, the GCWR has been increased to 30,000 lbs., the trucks have been designed with heavier payload towing in mind, and the best improvement of all—Ram trucks now provide a lower cost of ownership.
Also noteworthy are programmable options, allowing customers to select a maximum speed for the 2012 Ram Chassis Cab at no extra cost. Either the factory or the Ram Truck dealer can adjust the speed, with 55, 60, 65, 70 or 75 mph limits. The Ram 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab trucks, typically used as safety and rescue vehicles, have a standard 87 mph top speed. This is a great feature for those of you that have the occasional lead foot.
The new Ram C/V Cargo Van joins this year’s lineup which expands our reach into the small commercial van segment. Ram C/V provides small businesses and commercial customers many competitive advantages including best in class 1,800 lb payload, best in class 144.4 cu-ft cargo capacity and segment exclusive towing capability up to 3,600 lbs. It is powered by a 283 horsepower Pentastar V6 with 25 mpg highway.
Making reappearance for 2012 is the award-winning Ram Power Wagon. The Power Wagon, equipped with electric-locking front and rear differentials, and an electronic disconnecting sway bar, is the most aggressive and equipped off-road-ready pickup truck to menace the streets. The Wagon also boasts Bilstein shocks, 33-inch BF Goodrich off-road tires, underbody skid plate protection, a 4.56 axle ratio for hill climbing and a custom-built Warn 12,000-lb. winch hidden behind the front bumper.
We have no doubt that you are as excited about these new releases as we are. So, although we are in no hurry to leave 2011 we are definitely looking forward to the coming year.
