Ram Truck Presents CMT Artists Of The Year Contest

Country Music is filled with some truly talented people, outstanding performers and wonderful song writers. Luckily, it is also filled with bands and musicians that give back to their communities, serve the under privileged and recognize their blessing by sharing those blessing with people around them. Now, these talented and giving performers are being recognized and we here at Ram Truck are proud to be a part of this occasion.

The first ever annual CMT Artist of Year will be recognizing five amazing honorees – Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band, for their commitment to social responsibility. Aligning with the CMT’s community service arm CMT One County, you can check out a series of custom Ram Truck spots highlighting each CMT Artist of the Year honorees.

After checking out the videos, tell us how you support your community for a chance to win a music themed prize pack, including an ipod Nano, iTunes gift card and Ram gear. Whether you help your neighbor or serve at a food kitchen, share your story with us in the comments below (with a valid email address) before 11:59 pm EST Dec. 2, 2010 and be entered to win. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and highlighted right here on RamZone on Dec. 3, 2010, the same day the Artist of Year special will air on CMT.

My family and I support our community by running a soccer league for the local kids. The town we live in is very small and there’s not a lot of activities offered. We have over 100 kids signed up from all ages and they love playing the sport. We truly enjoy giving back to our small community by offering a sport my entire family loves.

  • John W

I am a firefighter for FDNY. I regularly go on calls with my Ram, which has been decked out in blue and white emergency lights. I love this truck.

I had bought the truck through the Army Servicemen discount service while I was in Iraq, and when I got back, it was sitting there waiting for me. Unfortunately, when at a recent heavy-rescue accident, someone rear-ended my truck, bending the frame to where it could not be repaired, among other damages.

However, the local Dodge dealership heard the story, and the next day, my old, smashed up truck was gone from the driveway. They had towed it away, and I found a brand new, 2011 Dodge Ram SRT8 in my driveway, with all previous emergency equipment installed.

    Thanks Dodge

  • I would take Christmas trees to the family in needs I believe that every child in American should have a Christmas tree because Christmas is all about hope that on that night you wake up and there something under your tree no matter if your rich or poor it all begins with the tree

  • Ben

I help my community by helping mowing my elderly neighbors yards and scoop their driveways for them during the winter time!

  • Tamra Clifford

My husband and myself help families that can’t afford home repairs. My husband worked in construction for years up until 2 years ago due to the economic downfall. So we do repairs if able to free of charge.

  • Mathew

My brothers and I help out my next door neighbor with anything we possibly can do. Ever since the passing of her husband of over 50 years, taking care of house maintenance has been very hard for her. So anytime it snows or turns icy, or when the leaves fall, or whatever arises, I always make sure to clear it out and take care of it for her. Especially when its icy, she’s not able to break the icy and its very dangerous. She was always helpful and been supportive since my family moved here 20 years ago. It may not sound like the biggest contribution to society, but with such a loving person, and now that I’m older, I love returning the favor and helping her with anything I can possibly do to make things easier for her and put a smile on her face! =)

  • Nicole (SahmReviews)

I’ve been using contacts made through blogging to help various charities. As an example, during back-to-school, I was able to give backpacks full of school supplies to kids that couldn’t afford them. This holiday, I’m working on the Random Acts of Zhu program to give 100 children in my community a toy this holiday season. It might not seem like much, but to a child who might be spending Christmas at the hospital or in a home where money is scarce, it is big.

I’m proud to have such great opportunities as this!

  • Richard

  • Rich

I am a volunteer firefighter on two departments, both for nearly 10 years. With that I’ve relied on my RAM to get me through the worst conditions to the calls. I also am an EMT who stops at accidents and pulls cars out of the ditch with my Power Wagon in winter. When I’m not doing all that I also train high school kids in EMT & Fire Fighting to help bring up a new generation of first responders before they’re even 18. I help with Fire Explorer posts as well and even am involved with an organization who teaches cat & dog life saving and handling skills to first responders.

  • I’m an Air Force Officer, but that is what I am doing for humanity and tomorrow.

    For my community..

me and my soon to be spouse, push ourselves to fight cancer. Each year we do a 32km walk, which takes about 7 to 8 hours straight. We experience almost every emotion through the walk. Excitement at first, joy and laughter as we walk with cancer suvivors and widows. The rush of being half way, the confusion of why we do this, when our legs hurt so much? But finally the feeling of celebration at the end. We raise atleast $1250 each.

But our goal isn’t the money. That’s easy. Luckily we haven’t been effected, and we make “ok” money; with friends who support us.

The tough part of giving to the community is being brave enough for a grown man to wear as much pink as possible and walk with a few thousand women for 8 hours and enspiring other men in your community to do the same.

    Thank-you.

  • Logan Haga

I am currently a freshman at Bloomsburg University, I am majoring in Secondary Education: Earth & Space Science. I want to give back to the community and be able to teach the future. As of right now, I am a volunteer firefighter at college in Bloomsburg and a lifeguard and swim teacher at the Chambersburg YMCA. I teach kids how to swim. I also help cleanup crews along side roads around my house clean up trash.

  • Amber Pope

It’s so hard to say what we do because we do it out of love and never want or expect anything in return. But since you asked…

My husband gives back to our country by volunteering to be a US NAVY Sailor for the last 13 years. He is currently doing his 5th deployment as a Seabee Reservist in Afghanistan.

I give back to our local community by volunteering to run our Family Readiness Group (FRG) for my husband’s detachment and help with the FRG at the local NOSC. When he deployed there wasn’t an FRG for our Navy families. With help from some wonderful spouses we have found and organized support, activities, friendships for our local military families. I have also been networking within our local military community and we are slowing breaking down barriers between branches so that all military families are connected and not segregated by what branch of service their spouse is in.

Besides being involved in the military community I volunteer at my son’s school, help take care of my Grandma, and look out for my neighbors. We have already had record amounts of snow and its so nice that we all help each other out. I will snow blow my neighbors driveways in the morning and I will come home to mine being done after work! This is the first time I have lived in a neighbor hood where we all take care of each other.

I support my community in a variety of ways through the magic of facebook! Weight loss, healthy cooking, green living, breastfeeding, motherhood, health issues, and many other topics are shared – I have become the go-to girl for advice on many of these topics and often find myself offering support in the form of motivation to my ‘friends’ – I have built an amazing community and gotten close to many people I wouldn’t have otherwise. So to sum it up, my contribution to the community is the message that we are all ‘normal’ and capable of accomplishing anything we desire <3

  • Ryan

I help out my wife as much as possible, by cleaning the house, doing lawn work, and washing the cars. We all know that the key to a happy life is a happy wife!

Thanks for all the great stories about how you help in your community. It’s great to know that all of you including even the toughest Ram Truck owners have a soft spot. While we were blown away by how incredible all the submissions to the CMT Artist of the Year contest, we had to buckle down and select the winners. Wining an iPod and some other cool stuff are John W, Jason H and Nicole. Since we couldn’t let anyone go empty handed, everyone that shared their contribution (even Mr. Dodge) will get a free Ram hat.

These stories of helping out your neighbors, volunteering in the community and supporting charities really inspired us, and we hope they inspired you too. Speaking of inspiration, check out the CMT Artist of the Year show tonight Friday, Dec. 3, at 8/7c on CMT. The program celebrates the artists who made it big in country music and continued to serve those around them. Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift and the Zac Brown Band will all be honored during a star studded night hosted by Kevin Costner.

Check out all the details here and take a look at the winning entries below.
