In this video, Motor Trend Editor-in-Chief Angus MacKenzie said that they were particularly impressed by the 2010 Ram HD’s interior and powertrain. “The 2010 Ram Heavy Duty absolutely nailed the award in terms of our criteria, from the attractive exterior styling, to the plush and quiet cabins, to the tough and capable powertrains, especially the impressive Cummins diesel, which meets 50 state emissions standards without needing expensive after-treatment technology,” MacKenzie said. “It delivers the capability heavy duty truck users demand, with style and refinement they perhaps did not expect.”

As he was handed the Motor Trend 2010 Truck of the Year award, Ram CEO Fred Diaz acknowledged the prestige of Motor Trend and of the award — and quickly deflected the credit onto the team that built the truck.

“To have our all-new 2010 Ram Heavy Duty named Truck of the Year by the editors of Motor Trend really defines how great this new Ram Heavy Duty pickup is,” Diaz said. “The Motor Trend Truck of the Year Award is like a standing ovation for the Chrysler Group designers, engineers and planners who developed this incredible Ram Heavy Duty Truck.”

Praising the Ram Heavy Duty’s design advancement, engineering excellence, value, safety, and efficiency, Motor Trend Senior Editor Edward Loh presented the award for the 2010 Motor Trend Truck of the Year to Ram CEO Fred Diaz. Loh emphasized that among the judges, the 2010 Ram HD was a “unanimous choice” that excelled in all aspects of testing, including acceleration, braking, skid pad, and the Motor Trend figure-8 test, as well as real-world towing tests.
