Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine Improves Emissions

Ram Diesel Trucks are staying ahead of the curve when it comes to emissions. Our exclusive use of diesel particulate filter technology offers customers a less complicated, lower maintenance — and most importantly — less costly alternative to the diesel exhaust fluid treatment systems required by other diesel pickup manufacturer. Our Cummins Turbo Diesel engine has been improved with an advanced diesel exhaust emissions aftertreatment system — a system we pulled forward several years ahead of government requirements.

Typically, the filter de-soots itself in the course of the customer’s normal driving pattern. Never one to rest on our laurels, we found that the duty cycles of a small number of customers did not adequately clear the filter and as a result have made significant improvements in the system since the initial launch. We have developed software improvements — available to all customers, including owners of 2007-08 models — which resolve the issue.

These improvements place no restriction on idle time or use of the exhaust brake, helping Ram Trucks meet the high quality levels of our previous generation diesels.
